food network star. episode 5. justin d's recipe, for relief.

This morning I'm elated to be writing about my experience on the show without the fear of week 5 looming in the distance. I get to put it all behind me, The Biltmore, Scarpetta, STK, camera challenges, and being judged publicly for not having a personality.. or too many of them.

I will never regret being on the show (I hope) it's a unique opportunity that helped me learn a lot about myself. Few moments will ever compare to the joy I felt walking away from that whole experience. I want to keep this short and sweet, so I won't be posting a recipe from the elimination. Instead I just want to express to everyone that's in my life, how much they all mean to me. This has been a really crazy ride and without the people I surround myself with, this would have been a much different experience.

I do want to expand on my saying I'm a private person. I'm a private person as far as being on reality shows go. I have no Real Housewife style desire to be the center of attention. I don't need or want to compete for attention and being on Food Star helped me understand that. I think there is much humor found in being told I have no personality and that I am clearly just a pair of glasses. If Food Network wants Penny's, Chris's and Jyll's, they can have them.

This is most definitely not the end, and here comes the cliché, it's just the beginning. Lo and I are going to get back to blogging about what matters to us, food, love and family. Subscribe to the RSS and follow us on twitter to stay on top of it all. Big things are coming and I can't wait to tell you all about it, soon.

Thanks for watching,

Justin D.

what is this, the food network blog?

We have taken a small departure as of late to talk about me, Justin D., and here is a little bit more.

This is the second bio video to be released by Food Network and damn... I look confident. Let's get this straight, video number one I make the statement that I "hate everybody else's food" and in this video I bust out, "my opinions aren't opinions.. they're facts." With statements like that, look out E! and Joel McHale here I come.

Lo and I are also planning to blog about every episode. I'll be re-creating the dishes I make on the show and posting them here on our blog. So hopefully you'll want to check those out too.

All that being said, I am serving you up another helping of reality enhanced Justin D. via the Food Network

Enjoy!

justin davis. food network star.

So here we go. Twenty days until the premier. I feel like there is so much to do beforehand, like photocopy myself in June's issue of Food Network Magazine.

Aside from the terrible choice of photo, I have to be happy that they told the Paul Bunyan story. Amazing. Who would think that being the voice of a giant talking statue would stick with me for so long. "Hey Lori from Montana. Sure is nice to see you stopping by the park! Now come have a seat on my size forty lumberjack boots."

I'm looking forward to getting out there and doing some media. Get my cooking demo on! There's a lot in the works over here at Gastronomic Duo. So stick around and help spread the word.

food network and me.

I am both excited and petrified to tell the world that I have joined the cast of Season 7 of Food Network Star. It's been a whirlwind of emotions, nerves and energy and now the time is nearly here. On June 5th I'll be on a reality show... woah. Deep breath and get it together man!

I hope everyone watches and keeps reading the blog. I know I'll be watching, with a large box of wine!

Over on Foodnetwork.com they are doing something called early fan forecast voting. No one has any idea what this actually means, but hell.. I'll take the votes! So do it, go vote! And watch the show.

Below is my casting video from Food Network where I tell people that I hate their food, which is mostly true.
